good branches at 3300-3500 rank in old iits

Hi guys ,
I am an iitan and want to save you from misconceptions about some branches

3300-3600 is a very crucial rank on which one becomes confused to decide whether take new iits , go to old iits with not good branches , go to iit bhu , or join other colleges(NITS , BITS) with preferable branch choice.

The answer to this which I myself found most appropriate is if you have something in mind about a particular branch , go for it .It doesn't matter from where do study a branch which is of your choice but if you really don't know what to do ....

Go for branches like OCEAN ENGG. , MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING , CHEMICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY in 7 old iits as they are pretty decent branches having nice placement . Also there is a special respect only for 7 old iits from India in global market and they represent themselves as a brand . I myself was stuck at this a few years back and landed in IIT Kharagpur which is pretty much good .

After going into old iits one need not worry about good placement as iits arrange for 5 lakh p.a. package even for 7 pointers in every department . So I think it is better to go with brand maintaining old IITs as compared to new iits or iit bhu which has just been converted into iit.

I myself have visited BHU but have noticed that it is not still at level of iit .

so guys do make a choice carefully.

OCEAN ENGG.
It is a special branch which is found in only two iits IITM and IITKGP , this is branch better than aerospace and metallurgy as it is taught only in total 4 Indian colleges and has a lot of requirement in market . The content taught is also same as mech. in most of sense .

MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING
It is the best branch to take at low jee ranks for a guy who wants to study cs , as a guy who graduates from this branch get job of software engg. even though some courses being Msc.
It gets high package placements like cs and also course content is much same as cs.
